MARINE CARGO
The Risk

By simply reading the news, one can realise that ships sink every day, natural and man-made disasters are occurring with frightening regularity, and bad weather is a fact of life.

Let's face it, by importing or exporting goods, you are likely to suffer damage, destruction or loss that can cost you a lot of money.

There is nothing you can do to prevent all these causes of loss, but you can take action to ensure that neither you nor your clients have to suffer substantial financial losses when things do go wrong.

Our Solution

Our Cargo insurance provides coverage for physical loss or damage to cargo while in transit, either internationally or domestically.

Cargo insurance is usually provided by the means of one of three Institute Cargo Clauses, a set of standards voluntarily adopted by many international marine insurance organisations. They consist of Clauses A, B or C, plus War Clauses and Strike Clauses. Cargo Clause A provides the widest coverage and C gives the least, which is reflected in reduced premiums. There is an Institute Cargo Clause (Air) for movement by air, which is equivalent to the A Clause.

You can opt for either an Open Cover policy, which involves the cover of a number of consignments, or a Specific (Voyage) Policy, which provides a one-off insurance cover for a particular shipment only.
